Before any generator leaves for a client’s site — whether it’s heading to a mining operation in Ghana, a resort in the Maldives, or a telecom base station in Kenya — we conduct a thorough pre-shipment inspection to make sure everything meets our standards.
What We Inspect
Our pre-shipment inspection covers the key areas that matter most for reliable field operation:
Visual and Mechanical Check
We walk around the unit and check every detail: canopy condition, paint finish, door hinges and latches, exhaust system installation, and cable routing. Every bolt gets a visual check — loose fasteners are the number one cause of problems during shipping and initial operation.
Fluid Levels and Connections
Engine oil, coolant, and fuel systems are inspected for proper levels and any signs of leaks. We verify that all drain valves are properly closed and sealed. Fuel lines are checked for secure connections.
Control Panel and Electrical Systems
We power up the control panel and verify all indicators, alarms, and displays are functioning correctly. Every shutdown parameter is tested. Battery voltage and connections are checked — a dead battery on arrival is one of the most frustrating issues for any client.
Documentation Verification
We confirm that all documentation is complete and matches the unit: test reports, certificates, operation manuals, spare parts lists, and wiring diagrams. Everything goes into a waterproof document pouch attached to the generator.
Startup and Load Bank Test
No inspection is complete until the machine runs. We start the set cold, confirm the control logic sequences correctly through cranking, firing, and stabilization, and check that the alternator holds rated voltage and frequency at no load. Where the order calls for it, the unit is put under a resistive load bank and taken through 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of rated output so we can see coolant and oil temperatures settle in range, verify the governor holds speed as load changes, and confirm there is no abnormal vibration, smoke, or leak under pressure. A generator that only ever ran briefly on the assembly line is not the same as one that has been proven under load.
Packaging and Container Preparation
The final physical step is how the unit is made ready to travel. Lifting points are confirmed and rated for the machine weight, the set is secured to a treated timber base, and exposed surfaces are protected against salt-laden air on ocean routes. Accessories, tools, and the document pouch are inventoried against the packing list so nothing is missing when the container is opened on site. Container choice and bracing are matched to the unit size so the generator arrives as level and undamaged as it left.
What the Client Receives
Along with the generator, every shipment carries the paper trail that makes commissioning and customs clearance straightforward: the witnessed test report, the applicable certificates, the operation and maintenance manual, the wiring diagrams, and the spare-parts list. Having these ready before the unit arrives removes the most common cause of on-site delay, which is a machine standing idle while its documentation is chased.

Shipping a generator halfway across the world is a significant investment. Discovering a problem after delivery is exponentially more expensive to fix than catching it before shipment. A 30-minute inspection at the factory can prevent weeks of delays and thousands of dollars in troubleshooting on site.
